A tragic incident occurred in the Abuakwa-North District of the Eastern Region, where an 18-year-old student of the New Nsutam Senior High Technical School lost her life after allegedly being stabbed by her boyfriend. The victim has been identified as Abigail Asare, a form two student of the school and resident of Accra.
According to sources, on the morning of Friday, June 2, 2023, around 9am, Abigail visited her boyfriend, Emeka, who is said to be a Togolese, shortly after leaving school for the mid-term holidays that began on the same day. However, not long after, Emeka reportedly left the shop without his girlfriend.
The police conveyed the victim's body, which has been deposited at the Kyebi Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy as investigations into the incident continue. The suspect has since fled from the community, and a follow-up search to his home met his absence. The motive behind the alleged stabbing is still unclear.
The school authorities are yet to comment on the incident, but the tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning. It's a sad reminder of the need for increased awareness on domestic violence and the importance of seeking help and support in such situations.
