Nuhu Sulley, a 33-year-old scrap dealer who had previously been granted bail of GH¢50,000 by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing American rapper Meek Mill's iPhone, has been arrested again.
This time, he is accused of stealing a phone worth GH¢4,000 from a medical officer in Madina. Sulley appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing. His alleged accomplice, Junior, is currently evading arrest. Sulley has been granted bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, and he is expected to reappear in court on July 20 while the police continue their search for Junior. Despite opposition from an Attorney from the Attorney General's Department who cited Sulley's previous charges of phone theft, Sulley's defense counsel argued that he is a law-abiding and peaceful member of society with people willing to act as sureties. The prosecution presented the case that Sulley, along with Junior, allegedly stole a Huawei mobile phone from a clinical physician in Madina.
Sulley denied stealing the phone and claimed that he chased Junior and retrieved the phone from him in his caution statement. The prosecution stated that an investigation is ongoing.
